The Boston Celtics have lost their sixth straight game to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. The second loss after Coach Doc Rivers said there might have to be a big change. This loss also could be the worse since the C’s lead the game by 27 points after the first half.
Kyle Korver lead the Atlanta Hawks back to win the game dropping threes all over the green. Korver went 8 for 12 behind the arc finishing with a team high of 27 points. The eight three pointers were a career high for Korver who got hot at the start of the second half. The Hawks took full advantage of the Celtics obviously let up after the early lead.
Kevin Garnet was the Celtics leading scorer with 24 points and 10 rebounds but fouled out in the second overtime. Jeff Green had 17 points for the C’s while Paul Pierce had 12. Rajon Rondo recorded his fifth triple-double of the season.
The Boston Celtics do need to make a change, a big one if they want any type of success this season. If all Rondo cares about is triple-doubles and assist streaks he should be the first to go. Your so called leader of the team cares for personal stats first and team second. Also the point guard has been rumored to have had problems with teammates and staff. He has also been in trouble with the league this season bumping into an official and then hanging up the phone on the league office.
All I know is this team isn’t going to go far if they continue to play with no sense of urgency or stop playing selfishly. I think this team may still make the playoffs but not make it past the second round. The time has come to make a drastic change or look to rebuild starting next season. I believe the organization needs to try and figure out what to do with Pierce and Garnett and also it could be time (I hate to say it) to cut ties with Coach Rivers. The team may need to go younger in the coaching department to connect with the new players on this team. We still have a long season ahead of us as we havent hit the all-star weekend yet, but this may continue to be an even longer half if this team cant get it together.
