“The Golden State Warriors will be the first NBA team to wear a jersey with sleeves.
The Warriors will debut the yellow alternate uniforms on Feb. 22. They will also wear them on March 8 against the Rockets and March 15 against the Bulls.
“It was the right moment, the right team,” said Lawrence Norman, Adidas’ vice president of global basketball. “Even more important, the right city. When you launch something as innovative as this — that will change the way the players look on the court and the way the fans support the team forever — why not launch it in the most innovative part of the United States?”
The uniform is also made with 60 percent recycled material.
“I think it will be a trendsetter,” rookie forward Harrison Barnes said. “I think its something it will take people a little bit of time to get used to, but once they do it’ll be good. As long as I’m able to shoot and move, that’s all that matters.”
The best part is where Lawrence Norman says it was the “right team” because there is no chance in hell the Golden State Warriors were number one on any list -anywhere-ever. Are they playing good basketball? Sure, but who looks to OAKLAND as the epi-center of innovation, especially in roundball? They’re the third most popular team in their own state. They’ve had like two winning seasons in the last 20 years. As miserable as the Lakers have been they were clearly the number one choice and got turned away. How about the the Knicks? Nope, Carmello only plays with one long sleeve. The Heat? they’re assholes, but not big enough assholes to play professional basketball in 60 percent recycled long sleeve shirts. The Thunder? Absolutely not said Kevin Durant in the nicest way possible.Nets? Turns out no one cares about the Nets, even in Brooklyn, Sorry Jigga. The Clippers? Nope. Then it went Bulls, Celtics, and Rockets because the Asian market is booming. The Warriors were no higher than tenth on this list of “the right team” aka the team that says yes first. No one wants to play basketball in long sleeves, sure you look cool – that’s clearly the number one goal in the NBA- but once you get a good sweat going that shits going to feel heavy and kill your jumper. I am 100 percent confidant these won’t be seen on March 8th or the 15th after all the complaints these get. Hell the new ball lasted less than half a season and that was exactly the same thing has the old ball. No one wants change, sorry Lawrence.
